He serves as a Disaster Response Dog, visits at the MO Veterans Home, nursing homes, schools reading with children, domestic violence shelters, pulls his cart in parades, and is a goodwill ambassador at events like the Pumpkin Patch and Duck Derby. He is a registered therapy dog and helps educate people about being responsible pet owners through programs at local shelters and rescues. People stop by on their walks so that they and their dogs can play with Addi in the front yard. She has never met a person or dog that she didn't like. 3. Loves Bombpops, her dad and rides in the truck more than life itself. 4. She was too advanced for Obedience Classes as a puppy. 5. She can inhale an entire chicken breast in under 5 seconds. 1) As you can see from the picture, Dixie is not like most dogs. She was a victim of neglect who has chosen to rise above the adversity that was her previous life and teach us all a lesson about perseverance; 2) Dixie jogs with me three times a week; 3) Dixie is taking an agility class. Starfox is a 9 week old Miniature Australian Shepherd. He is the greatest dog in KC for several reasons. 1.) Starfox is soft and cuddly... My friends like to call him a cotton ball on legs. 2.) Cosmo became part of our family after our daughter found him on a cold winter day roaming the highway in Minnesota. He was approximately 10 weeks old when we decided to give him a home. In return, he has become a very important part of our family. He not only enlightens our life by behaving impeccably, never even barking, but he spreads joy and laughter when he catches a tennis ball on the fly from a slingshot, he jumps off the lake dock for any toy, or plays tag with the grandkids. He's a real trouper to try anything - he even found that he loves riding the jetski. After only 2-1/2 years he seems to know all our moves before we even make them. Because he is so good with strangers he has now been trained and certified as a therapy dog to visit people with special needs. He's done such a great job filling our empty nest that our two grown daughters are getting jealous :-). Someone's loss was definitely our gain!!!

We adopted Buddy from Wayside Waifs in 1993, a rescued and likely abused 2/3-year-old Golden Retriever / Cocker Spaniel mutt with just 3 days to live before he would have to be put down. As he learned to shake rather than jump as a greeting, Buddy quickly became dearly beloved by our family and the neighborhood. He is protective but gentle-- standing guard on the stairway landing until the family goes to bed and barking if a stranger approaches the door, but patient with the neighborhood kids who want to pet (or pounce on) him. When my brother and I were small, protective Buddy would bark if the roughousing got too rough. As we grew older, Buddy would let us feel safe when we were at home alone. He also took on special roles as alarm clock (when no one else could get my brother up for school), opossum guard (chasing many such critters out of the yard), and the classic kitchen mop (snatching up any dropped food from under the table). Now at 18 and mostly deaf, Buddy is not as active as he used to be, but is still as good and as important to our family as ever. Always eager to play (especially with his rope bone), eager to please, obedient and sweet, Buddy has certainly been the best dog we've ever had.

Fergie is a 7 month old female Brindle Boston Terrier. We decided to get another dog when we were questioning do we have our first child or opt for the easier thing, a dog. Well, we took the easier route and bought Fergie who is completely our fur child. Fergie is the type of dog that you can take anywhere, no dogs allowed signs do not pertain to us, because she is small enough to hide and never barks. She also has a personality, when we have guests she first inspects them by looking them up and down, then she shakes her entire body in excitement when she approves and is looking for love. She also knows that no matter what is going on that her dog bed is her spot for relaxation. Whether we are camping, boating, or having a party, when she gets tired she goes to her bed and lies down. Of course, this dog does tricks too. We do the whole sit, stay, lie down, shake, and fetch, what would be a dog if you didn’t do some kind of tricks. The best thing about Fergie is her face, sweet and loving. Even though I never know what she is thinking, I feel like her eyes tell you everything that she is feeling, sick, sad, tired, happy, annoyed, and playful.
