The kitchen was built and attached to the stone garage which was built in 1903. The patio consist of approx. 10,000 brick pavers that were purchased from Quality Sand & Material in Independence. The bricks came from one of Kansas City's older streets which were being rejuvenated at the time!

In our River Market home, we changed a half-bath into a much more functional pantry that is right off the kitchen. The door leading in is a very contemporary frosted glass door.

One of my favorite parts about the school house is the loft that has a ladder and a fire-pole to get down to the ground. My sister and I use the pulley system to get things up to the loft. We play school here in the summer time with our friends. I planted the garden all by myself and we got to paint the inside walls to make it look like a real school!

Favorite Room: Master Bedroom Suite

Pictured: Suite entry and His & Her walk-in closets

The columned entry rotunda to the master bedroom suite is a favorite focal point. Its visual strength is heightened by:
•	Up lighting at the top of each column capital
•	A see through (two-sided) salt water aquarium
•	A two color terrazzo floor utilizing opalescent abalone shell with subtle yet brilliant hues of green, purple and blue in the black and off white terrazzo matrix.
The rotunda allows uninterrupted access to the bedroom and bathroom, complete with:
•	see through fireplace
•	Labradorite green granite steam shower
• Jacuzzi
•	Heated limestone floors
•	Custom cabinets and emerald pearl granite countertops.
The rotunda also adds privacy to the dual dressing areas, bathroom and his and her toilets. The most commented on feature: The side by side his & her wardrobes of custom cabinetry, separated by a slate waterfall feature. Closets are completed with absolute black galaxy topped islands and mirrored and lit counters.

Along with redoing her bedroom when she turned 16, our daughter carried the theme into her bathroom. The walls in the vanity area are a bright lime green and blue. The colors in the stool area are orange and bubblegum pink. All the choices with respect to the design, color, accessories and furnishings in both her bedroom and bathroom were Katelyn's.

Our 16-year old daughter, Katelyn, asked to have her room redone for her 16th birthday. The room is entirely her concept and design. The 4 walls are 4 different, vivid colors...orange, lime green, blue and bubblegum pink. After the room was done, her grandmother gave her the quilt you see on the bed that was made by Katelyn's great, great grandmother. The same colors that Katelyn chose for her room were in this quilt that was created many, many years ago!

Morning and evening, from our compfy slip-covered wicker chairs, we watch the sun's rising and setting rays reflected and projected through the antique scenic Arts and Crafts windows. The ceiling fan and the floorboard heating, along with the sisal rug that is atop the tile flooring, help to regulate seasonal temperatures so that, year long, we can enjoy this room, especially the daily morning song birds concerts.

On August 5, 2001, I was crossing Troost as a pedestrian in a 25 mph zone. A car going 53 mph hit me. My legs broke the bumper and my head went through the windshield. I am totally disabled and am writing now. I furnished my new house and like to write in my den surrounded by momentos I acquired in Israel, Russia, and China.
